H.A. ‘Ace’ Garner

H.A. “Ace” Garner, 98, of Beaver Mountain passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Quinton Manor. He was born Sept. 13, 1918, at Blue Ball, Ark., to Asa and Mary (Woodard) Garner.
Ace grew up in Blue Ball, Ark., where he received his education.
He married Ethel Pollard on June 2, 1939.
He began a career in construction so they made their home in several states and towns. In 1959 they moved to Beaver Mountain, where he became a farmer and rancher and worked until just a few years ago.
Ace loved fishing and coon hunting, and he enjoyed construction and building things.
Ace is survived by his two sons, Donald Garner and wife Jeffie of Prague, Charles Garner and wife Carolyn of Marietta; his three daughters, Mary Ann Schultz and husband Vic of Durant, Sandra Johnson and husband Alex of Kinta, andTeresa Patterson of Enterprise; his 10 grandchildren, James, Jimmy, Greg, Brad, Brandy, Brian, Logan, Shawna, Sara, and Jason; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Monroe Garner of Arkansas; a sister, Lillie Yondell of Arkansas; companion, Sue Williams of Allen.
Ace was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Mary Garner; his wife, Ethel Garner; a son, James Garner; a grandson, Thomas Dewayne Garner; three brothers, Velo, Buck, and Jep; and two sisters, Rosie and Minnie.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, June 1 at West Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. Coy Mike Few officiating.
Burial will follow immediately under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers will be James Garner, Jimmy Garner, Jason Patterson, Logan Johnson, Cody Garner, Joshua Spain and Alex Garner.
