George T. “Buckwheat” Jordan, 81, of Stigler, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Smith,Ark. He was born Aug.1, 1938, in Keota to Albert Ray and Vesta (Few) Jordan.

George grew up in Rock Ford where he was educated. He lived in Haskell County all his life. He worked on the state dam projects and worked most of his life as a coal miner for Ferrell-Cooper Mining. He loved gardening and tinkering with lawnmowers. George is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-laws, Keith and Judy Jordan of McAlester, Greg and Trish Jordan of Greenwood, Ark. and Tyson and Dalia Jordan of Hackett, Ark.; his daughter and son-in-law Angela and Richard Jasna of Konawa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ray Jordan; mother of his children, June McFerran of Greenwood, Ark.; close friends, Carl Pitchford of Red Oak, Sam Stubblefield and Jeff Johnson.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Vesta Jordan; a grandson, Brent Jordan; three sisters, Anna, Evelyn, Wanda and a brother, Eugene Jordan.

Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Mr. Paul Orr officiating.

Cremation arrangement was under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
