Gene Roberts

Gene Roberts, 66, of Stigler, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018. He was born March 19, 1951, in Cabool, Mo. to Charles James and Phyllis Jean Roberts.
He grew up in Cabool and graduated at Cabool High School in 1969. He was proud of the fact that he was on the football team that went to and won the state playoffs in the ’68-‘69 football season.
He married Nancy Peek on Nov. 6, 1976, in Kansas City, Mo.
He loved the Lord, gardening, fishing, animals, his family and his many friends.
Gene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Roberts of the home; his two sons, Michael Peek and wife, Carrie, of McAlester, Fred Peek and wife, Patty, of Canadian; his five sisters, Donna Lambdin of Jacksonville, Fla., Beverly Michelsen and husband, Dennis, of Lewisville, Texas, Anne Zimmerman of West Plains, Mo., Normalea Roberts of Carrollton, Texas, Denise Clark and husband, Robert, of Rolla, Mo.; his brother, David Roberts and wife, Tracey, of Trophy Club, Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Phyllis Roberts; two brothers-in-law, Steve Zimmerman and Jerry Lambdin.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Lake Eufaula Christian Church with the Rev. John Sands and the Rev. John Callaway officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
