Gary L. Corder

Gary L. Corder, long-time Keota resident, was born April 6, 1943, in Keota to Lawrence A. and O.T. (Kannady) Corder.  He passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, in Fort Smith, Ark.at the age of 75.

He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Corder Jackson of Lawton and niece, Lawrell Ann Sparkman of Lawton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and O.T. Corder; grandparents, E.J. and Gertrude Corder and Arch and Joan Kannady.

Gary was a graduate of Keota High School. He lived his entire 75 plus years in Keota with the exception of three years service in the Army in Germany.

Gary retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, as did his father. He was an outdoor sportsman – hunting and fishing with his father and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his sister in his RV to the state parks in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. Roaring River State Park, Mo. and Table Rock Lake State Park, Mo. were their two favorites.

Gary was a third generation member of the Keota United Methodist Church with remembrances of his grandmother Corder ringing the church bell early Sunday mornings.

Graveside service was at 10:30 am on Jan. 29, 2019, at Keota Cemetery, Keota with the Rev. Tommie Parker officiating.

Interment was under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.
