Everett Colson

Everett Lee Colson was born on Feb. 2, 1946, in Augusta, Maine to Arthur and Florence (Bulmer) Colson. He passed away on March 7, 2021, in Fort Smith, Ark. at the age of 75.

He is survived by his children, Michael Carey and wife, Jasmin, of Tulsa, Okla., Brian Carey and wife, Denise, of Keota, Okla. and Donna Thompson and partner, Lisa Edwards, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his grandchildren, Ethan Thompson and wife, Haylee, of Poteau, Okla., Isaiah Carey of Tulsa, Okla. and Zoey Black of Keota, Okla.; his great-grandchildren, Roman Thompson of Poteau, Okla. and Chloe Wickersham of Poteau, Okla.; his nieces and nephews, Sheila Wilson, Adrienne Burns and Lynette Morrison; his great-nieces and nephews, Steve, Daniel, David, Aaron, Jared, Charles, Amanda, Chad, Brittney and Spencer; his sister, Laverne Wilson of Wagener, S.C.; and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.

Everett was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Owens) Colson; his son, Everett “Lee” Colson II; and his parents, Arthur and Florence Colson.

Viewing was held at Mallory Chapel in Stigler from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 8; from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9; and from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 10.

Graveside services were held at Old Cache Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 with Bro. Tommie Parker officiating. Eulogist was Charles Carry. Interment was under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.
