Eugene Buchanan

Eugene Alvin “Buck” Buchanan, Jr. of Stigler was born in San Francisco, Calif. to Eugene Alvin Buchanan, Sr. and Mary Beatrice (Martinez) Briggs on March 16, 1958. He passed away Feb. 17, 2019, in Muskogee at the age of 60. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Freda Buchanan, of the home; one son, Michael Buchanan and wife, Miranda, of Keota; one daughter, Tammy Roach and husband, Josh, of Stigler; one son-in-law, Robert Steele and wife, Earlene, of Stigler; grandchildren, Jacob Bettencourt-Roach of the home, Mandy Bettencourt-Roach of Stigler, Joseph (Joe Joe) Roach of Stigler and Riggin, Castin (Moose), Mikah, Tinley and Kiley Buchanan of Keota; special nephew, Don McCarn of Stigler; stepfather, Terry Briggs and sisters, Joanne Lux and husband, Nicol, of Wisconsin and Mechele Briggs and Bobby Rolen of Oklahoma City.

Buck was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Buchanan, Sr.; his mother, Mary Beatrice Briggs; two brothers, Michael Briggs and Johnny Eugene Buchanan; his daughter, Mindy Ann Steele and his grandparents, Glen and Mamie Buchanan.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church in Stigler with Bro. Tommie Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Stigler City Cemetery in Stigler under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Pallbearers will be David LaPlante, Larry LaPlante, Robert Steele, Jeremy Velotta, Brent Shearwood and Colton Harris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Roach and Don McCarn.
