Erniece Maxwell

Erniece (Spears) Maxwell was born in Whitefield on Sept. 9, 1937, to Virgil and Rae (Benham) Spears. She passed away in Whitefield on Oct. 22, 2020, at the age of 83.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon, of the home; her son, Mark McCoy and wife, Debby, of Stigler; her stepson, Chris Maxwell of Norman; her stepdaughter, Julie Shelton and husband, Gary, of Norman; her sister, Virginia Browning and husband, Carol, of Whitefield; her brother, Ted Spears and wife, Pam, of Whitefield; her granddaughters, Ashley McCoy of Stigler and Amanda McCoy of Stigler; her great-grandson, Kacen McCoy of Stigler; her stepgrandchildren, Grant Shelton of Oklahoma City and Hannah Shelton of Norman; and several nieces and nephews.

Erniece was preceded in death by her daughter, Gina McCoy; her stepson, Bobby Maxwell; and her parents, Virgil and Rae Spears.

Erniece was a member of Whitefield First Baptist Church. She loved her cat, Lucy, and spending time with her family.

Viewing was held at Mallory Chapel in Stigler from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23; with family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Whitefield First Baptist Church with Bro. Tommie Parker officiating. Interment followed at Whitefield Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Pallbearers were Aaron Spears, Lucas Spears, Clint Hale, Kacen McCoy, Grant Shelton and Gary Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers were Royce Alverson, Darwin Rea, Joe Harmon, Ted Spears, Carol Browning, Gary Spears, Kenneth Spears, Neil Smith, Wesley Shelton and Farley Ward.
