Ellen Ogden

Ellen Ogden, 93, of Quinton, died Tuesday, March 6, at her home. The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at the Quinton School event center in Quinton at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Featherston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be J.O. Sparks, Jimmy Davenport, Dalton Spicer, Donald Mathis, Ken Bacorn and Ray Cloud.
Ellen was born on March 8, 1924, in McAlester to W. C. and Clara (Bassett) Wallace. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she spent more than 20 years teaching elementary school in the Quinton area. She was a member of the Home Extension and the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening, but especially loved playing with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a long-time member of the Featherston Baptist Church.
Ellen is survived by her children and spouses, Linda and Kenneth Brunson of Quinton, Sandy and Herman Doctor of Tulsa, Glenn and Paula Ogden of Quinton, Wayne and Martha Ogden of Quinton, and Jayne Lynch of  Quinton; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Montice Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doc Ogden; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Tamara Ballard and Lori Davis for having so much compassion, love and patience in their care of our mother.
