Ella Cariker

Ella Caroline (Hall) Cariker of Ponca City, formerly of Cushing, was the daughter of Leo Bennett Hall Sr. and Sybil Satterfield Hall. She was born July 29, 1933, at Whitefield and passed from this life Nov. 30, 2018. Ella was reared and educated at Whitefield and graduated from Stigler High School in 1951.

Following high school, she started her career as an accounting clerk/Girl Friday in Stigler, working for the Oklahoma National Gas Company.

She married her high school sweetheart, Dwain Dale Cariker, Aug. 1, 1955. After their marriage, Ella and Dwain moved to Stillwater so that Dwain could attend college at Oklahoma State University. She worked at the college while Dwain pursued his education. They were blessed with two children, daughter, Lisa Michelle and son, Terry Clark.

Ella endeavored to learn to play golf and enjoyed her time on the course and the other activities offered at the Cushing Country Club, and the friendships she made along the way. She was a member of the Women’s Golf Association.

Family was very important to her, as a stay-at-home mom, she dedicated her life to her children. She loved her home and family. Ella had many hobbies and enjoyed reading, gardening, painting, decorating, dancing and karaoke.

Ella was a member of the Cushing Christian Church, which she joined shortly after moving to Cushing.

She retired from Duke Oilfield Services, Inc., Drumright in June 1998.

Ella and Dwain were blessed with one grandson, Keith Hoover. In their later years, Dwain and Ella moved to Ponca City to be closer to their daughter and only grandchild, who was the joy of their life.

Ella is survived by daughter, Lisa Knott and husband, Dennis, of Newkirk; son, Terry Cariker of Anchorage, Alaska; grandson, Keith Hoover and wife, Kendra, of Waynoka; sister-in-law, Sue Nelle Hall of Stigler, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ella was preceded in death by Dwain, her beloved husband of 62 years; parents, Leo and Sybil Hall; sister, Mary Beller and brothers, Danny and Leo (Sonny Boy).

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at Mallory Chapel with Pastor John Waterloo officiating. Burial followed in Hoyt Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory in Stigler.

Viewing was Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m.
