Edith (Kash) Sparks was born on Feb. 23, 1955 to Luther and Mildred (Greenhaw) Kash in Porum.  She passed away on July 27, 2020 in Tulsa due to surgery complications. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Colbert and husband, Jesse, of Porum and Gayla Sparks of Cottonwood, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Joey, Jackson and Jacy Colbert of Porum; her brother, Larry Kash and wife, Terry, of Porum; her sisters, Doylene Duke and husband, Don, of Porum, and Nora Lewis of Wister; her niece, Rebecca Kash of Porum; her aunt, Mary Glover of Moore; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sparks; her parents, Luther and Mildred Kash; and one sister, Joyce Lossie.

Edith attended Porum School and graduated in 1973. After graduation she went to live in Oklahoma City and went to school to become a beautician. She met Raymond Sparks and they were married in July 1977. They made their home in Porum and had two children together. In 1986 Raymond became ill with lung cancer and she took care of him until his passing in 1987. Edith raised her daughters by herself until they both left the home. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in March 1988. She continued to put her faith first right up to the end. Over the years she worked as a beautician, worked at Stark Nursery, was a full time homemaker, babysitter and cleaned houses. She loved to work in her garden, plant flowers and mow her yard. Over the years she always enjoyed being in the ministry work, especially with her dear friends Gertie and Virginia and many others who helped her so much after the passing of her husband. What she loved the most was spoiling her three grandkids, who were the absolute joy of her life the last 15 years.

A memorial service via Zoom will be held at 4 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2020, with Brother Mickey Manzer officiating. The time of the service will be determined shortly. For information on joining the Zoom service, please contact a family member.
