Edith Goldsmith

Edith Marie Brown Goldsmith went to be with our Lord, Aug. 3, 2020.  She passed away of natural causes.

Edith was born in Hoyt. Her parents were William (Bill) Brown and Dixie Prim Brown. She was the youngest of seven children. She and her family attended Hoyt Freewill Baptist Church. She attended Stigler High School where she was a drum majorette and loved drama and being in plays. Edith graduated in 1951 and married Frederic Craig Goldsmith of Stigler that year.

Edith and Craig had three children and eventually settled in Oklahoma City. There they ran their own steel erection business. Later Edith worked more than 20 years for Diamond Crystal Salt Co. as a purchasing agent. She became a master gardener and she and Craig grew a vegetable garden every year.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Deborah Goldsmith of Norman and Steven and Rebecca Goldsmith of Sherman, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Goldsmith Lepley and Chris Lepley of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Goldsmith.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Hoyt Cemetery with Edith’s great-nephew, the Rev. Mike Shaw, officiating. The euglogy will be given by Edith’s son, Charles Goldsmith.  Services under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.
