Eddie Copeman

Eddie Kay “Big Ed” Copeman was born in Merced, Calif. on Dec. 2, 1952, to Ira and Modell (Weece) Copeman. He passed away in Lexington, Ky. on July 4, 2019, at the age of 66.

He is survived by his daughters, Tina Copeman of Keota, Linda Copeman of Keota, Shelly Copeman of Keota and Jessie Copeman of Kinta; two sisters, Joann Thomas and husband, Olen, of Keota and Leta Picco and husband, Charley, of Van Buren, Ark.; two brothers, Charles Copeman and wife, Rose, of Keota and Mike Copeman and wife, Vicki, of Keota; nine grandchildren, Chasten Dix, Darren Dix, Kylee and Kalee Watts, Kyzer and Kayven Peek, Kyla Jorden and Macey and Brennon Lamb; four great-grandchildren, Kayne, Kenedi, Ryker and Tara; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Romonia Blunt; his parents, Ira and Modell Copeman; three brothers, Paul, Wayne and Jessie Ray and three sisters, Georgia Masters, Melba Johnson and Nadine Owens.

Eddie was an Army veteran, a deputy sheriff and a softball coach.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Unity Baptist Church in Keota with Scott Welch and Tommie Parker officiating and remembrances provided by Bill Teel. Burial followed at Iron Bridge Cemetery in Keota under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Viewing was from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Mallory Chapel in Keota.

Pallbearers were Wayne Dix, Chasten Dix, Darren Dix, Charles Copeman, Sammy Copeman, Caleb Copeman and Dearl Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were David Rouell, Lawrence Burris, Charley Davis, Gary Bishop, Jimmy Seyler, Charley Rouell, Sr., Don Johnson, Bill Teel, Gale Maxwell, Mike Coble, Jeff Bryant and Jeff Williams of Elmore City.
