Donnie Wheelock

Donnie M. Wheelock, 71, of Stigler, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at the Haskell County Community Hospital in Stigler. She was born Feb. 8, 1947, in Fairview, Tenn. to Davis and Maybell (Wilcox) Merrill.

Donnie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She began her working career at the age of 18, when she was employed by the sewing factory in Checotah for 17 years; then Stigler Head Start for seven years and at Ruby’s Restaurant for several years. She especially loved going to bingo.

She married Stephen A. “Polock” Wheelock in 1987 in Stigler, where they made their home.

Donnie is survived by her husband, Steve of the home; her five siblings, Carrie Dianne Ary and husband, Bill, of Stigler, Doyle Pearson and wife, Donna, of Stigler, Doug Pearson and Jodie of Stigler, Walter Merrill and wife, Dianne, of Tellico Plains, Tenn. and Linda Calvert and husband, Roger, of Stigler; sister-in-law, Pricilla and Paul Aldrich; brother-in-law, David and Kathy Tenoff of New Hampshire; four nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces; six great-nephews; one great-great-nephew and very close friends, Kathy and Frank Sexton.

Donnie was preceded in death by her parents, Davis and Maybell Merrill; a twin sister, Bonnie Merrill; her sister, Marsha Nell Merrill; her grandparents; her mother and father in-law and her nephew, Christopher Lance Wren.
