Donnie Lee Atkinson

Donnie Lee Atkinson, 64, of Porum passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1952, to Barb and Barbara (Norwood) Atkinson at Muskogee. He grew up at Porum and attended Porum Schools.
Don loved helping raise his nieces, Misty Joiner and Jami McCoy. He was an avid gardener, a skilled craftsman and wood worker. He loved music, Nascar, animals, and was a loving brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He was known as Uncle Donkey by his many nieces and nephews. Don loved doing for others and often lended his wood-working talents to friends and events.
Don is survived by five sisters, Connie Ivey of Broken Arrow, Debbie Enloe of Tulsa, Twyla Baker of Porum, Barbette Veit of Sand Springs and Jeanette Harris of California; a brother, Barb Atkinson of Sand Springs; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and friends; and caregiver and friend, Peggy Cravens of Porum.
Don was preceded in death by his dad, Barb Atkinson; his mother, Barbara (Norwood) Baker; three sisters, Betty Rogers, Vicki Jo Tripp and Karen Atkinson.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Heavenly Hope Church in Porum with the Rev. Wayne Lindsey officiating. Pallbearers include Brad Owens, Trent Casinger, Trampas Tripp, Caleb Williamson, Lonnie Hyslop and Mike Lakeman. Honorary pallbearers include Mike Underwood, Bob Tripp, Ryan Lane, Babe Mendenhall and all his nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow immediately at Keota Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
