Delbert Tooman

On Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, Delbert Glen Tooman passed away at the age of 83, surrounded by his wife and children in Fort Smith, Ark. Delbert was born on March 14, 1937, in Miami, Ariz. to Delbert Glen Tooman, Sr. and Leona Irene Pollock. A Navy veteran, he was best known to all that knew him for his famous phrase, “I’ve never had a bad day in my whole life.” Delbert met and married his “Honey Pot” in 1981 taking two families and turning them into one.  He loved his family and never met a stranger.

Delbert “Okie” retired from Lockheed Martin and moved with his wife to Oklahoma to enjoy the good life. He enjoyed classic hot rods, tinkering in his garage with Bob Wills loudly playing, and the Sooners! He loved to spend time with children and was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He was a member of West Liberty Baptist Church and a self-proclaimed Mayor of Enterprise. He loved riding his scooter to the corner store for some good ole’ hot box food and conversation with the locals.   

Delbert is survived by his loving wife, Janiese Tooman, of the home.

A devoted father of six children, Kenneth Tooman and wife, Shiela Tooman, of California, Delbert “Dobie” Tooman and wife, Sandy Tooman, of California, Jason Tooman and wife, Melissa Tooman, of North Carolina, Rayna Butts and husband, David Butts, of Oklahoma, Jeffery Mooneyham of California, and Kellie Hamilton and husband, Michal Hamilton, of Oklahoma, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren that he absolutely adored.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his honor.
