David Paul Wiske

 

David Paul Wiske, 77, of Keota, OK, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS.

He was born on April 11, 1944 in Nashville, KS, the son of William Paul Wiske and Imogene Marie (Kahmeyer) Wiske.

David was always self-employed as a small engine repairman, a cattleman, a cattle buyer/shipper, auto-transmission rebuilder, a rabbit breeder and for the last 30 years he mined and sold decorative landscaping boulders. David was a generous man who went out of his way to help others. 

He had a quick wit, a playful sense of humor and was an amazing storyteller able to keep his family and friends entertained for hours. He always had something to talk about or something to do and was able to make a friend out of anyone he met.

He was also an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed spending time outside whether in the trees or on the boat. When he was feeling particularly rambunctious he would trick his nieces, nephews and grandkids into picking sand plums, so he could make his homemade wine.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Medicine Lodge, KS, the Jaycee’s and the Lions Club.

Surviving are one daughter, Paula (Allen) Doman of Medicine Lodge, KS; Four grandchildren, Wendy (Jessie) Prosser of Odin, KS, Dacya Doman of Medicine Lodge, KS, Shane (Kaitlin) Doman of Medicine Lodge, KS and “Kimberly Ann” Doman of Fort Worth, TX; Six great grandchildren, Adessa, Austyn, and Coy Prosser, Kenadie, Emersyn, and Rilynn Doman; one sister, Colleen Gehlen of Hutchinson, KS; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Wiske of Medicine Lodge, KS; nieces and nephews including; Regina, Malinda, Tina, Jolinda, Rory, Jaceilia, and Emma, and many wonderful great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Proceeding him in death are his son Harry Allen Wiske, parents William Paul Wiske and Imogene Marie (Kahmeyer) Wiske, his sister Lyla Jean Wiske, his brother William Chris (Bill) Wiske and his nephew William Albert Wiske.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 27, 2021 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Keota, OK and Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Dennis Fangmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Nashville, KS. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
