Claude Roye

Claude Roye, 94, of McCurtain passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee. He was born on Dec. 14, 1922, in Tamaha to Henry and Pearl (Amos) Roye.
Claude grew up in the Rose Hill Community where he received his education. He was a member of the Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church in his younger years was most recently a member of Stigler Free Will Baptist Church.
He served his country in the Army during WWII.
After that, he moved to California and he married Joy Belshi. He worked as a builder.
He moved home and began ranching at his current home place. He married Shirley Reading on April 3, 1990. Claude loved his family, but he loved the Lord the most. He loved fishing and gardening, and was an expert wood craftsman. Claude will be missed by all who loved and knew him. He was a good Christian man.
Claude is survived by his wife, Shirley Roye of the home; his children, Mark Roye and wife Tammy of Wilburton, Jimmy Wade and wife Sandy of Denver, Colo., Sheila Dunham and husband Steve of Rose Hill, Teresa Rowe and husband Lenard of Keota; grandchildren, April, Jerred, Jill, Sasha, Skyler, Justin, Steve, Kayanna, Mackenzie; one great-grandchild, Daylon; his brother, Charles Roye of Stigler.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Pearl Roye; former wife, Joy Roye; three brothers, Ed, Ivan and John D. Roye; his sister, Mildred Roye.
Services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Stigler First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Wendlandt officiating. Eulogist will be the Rev. David Bigger. Burial will follow at Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers will be Jerred Roye, Steve Wade, Lenard Rowe, Skyler Sage, Mark Roye and Jimmy Wade.
