Claude ‘Buddy’ Hunt

Claude E. “Buddy” Hunt, 76, of Porum, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, Sept. 9, 2016. He was born Nov. 17, 1939, in Independence, Mo., to Claude E. Hunt Sr. and Leona (Bowen) Hunt.
“Buddy,” as he was affectionately called, married Patricia Chrismon, Oct. 26, 2003, in Onalaska, Texas. They moved to Porum four years ago. He loved to fish and grow all kinds of plants, fruit and nut trees.
He loved growing gourds, and decorating and giving them as gifts. He was an excellent wood worker and he raised pigeons, doves, ducks, geese and pygmy goats. He loved the outdoors.
Buddy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Stigler and loved his church family. His greatest happiness was in making people happy with a gift of giving of himself and small gifts of candy and things he made or grew. Buddy was a gentleman of the Old School and respected his family and all women were treated like ladies by him. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Patricia Hunt of the home; his four daughters, Kimbra Casso, Leona Owens and husband “Yogi” David, Sally Fisk and husband, David, Nina Steelman and husband, Curtis; his three sons, William Poynter Jr. and wife, Diana, Timothy Poynter and wife, Sara, and Claude E. “Buddy” Hunt and wife, Lori; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Perez; a brother, Benjamin Hunt and wife, Winnie; two aunts, Dolly McDonald and Elaine La’Francouis; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and his church family.
Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Claude E. “Bud” Hunt; his mother, Leona Pogue; former wife, E. Elizabeth Hunt; infant son; Uncle Richard and Aunt Peggy Mauller.
Services were held Sept. 13 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommie Parker officiating. Eulogist, Stan Neely. Musicians were Stan Neely, Bobby Martin and Linda Watson. Services were under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers were William Poynter, Timothy Poynter, Curtis Steelman, Robert Maxwell, Tex Harmer and Roger Snider.
