Caroline Sue (Doke) Wright, daughter of Marion Forest and Annie Mae Doke was born May 9, 1949, at Casa Grande, Ariz. She passed away Feb. 13, 2021. Caroline married Bobbie Wright Jan. 6, 1971, in Porum, Okla. They lived together 49 years and would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary in January.

Caroline had three children, Tony Hernandez III, Angelina (Hernandez) Brinlee and Raymond Anthony Barnes and one stepdaughter, Sonya Brooks Horn. Tony passed away in 1984 and left one daughter, Tonika (Hernandez) Goudeau. Angie is married to John Brinlee and they reside in Porum, Okla. Raymond and Melissa (Miller) Barnes reside in Porum, Okla. Sonya and Rodney Horn live in Muskogee, Okla.

Between Bobbie and Caroline Wright they have 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, who she and Bobby loved with all their heart. They were all special to them.

Caroline dedicated her life to her family. She loved each and every one. She grew up in California and later moved to Oklahoma with her three children. She met and married Bobby G. Wright and they began their life together in Porum, Okla., when she lost her son Tony in a car accident in 1984.  The loss devastated her. Thankfully, Porum Assembly of God had a man of God. Pastor Charles Taylor who sought to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with her family along with Caroline and Bobbie. Caroline, in her pain, knew she needed something or someone to help her with the grief. She started attending Porum Assembly of God where she received Christ and the power of the Holy Ghost.  Suddenly she found hope where there had been no hope. Caroline wanted her family to know this same Jesus. So in 1984 through being a living testimony of love and life the family started their journey with Christ. We went from knowing very very little about the church and even less about Jesus. Caroline spoke of how the Holy Spirit spoke to her spirit “Caroline if you will serve me, I will cause your time to go fast and you will see Tony again.” She listened to the Holy Spirit and did just that. Whatever Caroline decided to do in her life and for the Lord, she did it! Caroline served in every area of ministry at Porum Assembly from children’s, youth, women’s, adult ministry and worship. She would have some of the best worship services in her living room. We all knew God would show up in that little house. I believe a lot of pastors and ministries were birthed in the living room of that little house.

Caroline went on to co-pastor or pastor at Briartown, Stigler and finally in her home community of Porum at the Pentecostal Church of God later known as NVision. Caroline pastored for 28 years, I believe. The Lord changed Caroline so much He showed her a life in Him!

Caroline learned how to play the piano. She determined in herself to get her GED, an associated degree from Connors State College and went on to her bachelor’s degree in education from Northeastern College.

She taught school and spent most of her time teaching jr. high and some high school. We would get such a laugh at her teaching Spanish. She would go to the Mexican restaurants to impress and practice her Spanish with the waiters. Caroline would make it fun whenever she would go.

She had such a love for Jesus. One of the greatest ministries and one of her last conversations she wanted to resume her hospital ministry. Caroline would go and pray, “Sinners” prayers with friends, family and strangers it didn’t matter.  Many of souls came to know Jesus.

Caroline had a dream many years ago. She saw herself walking out on some land in a field. She saw a tall tower. She said she was old with white hair and bow legged. She said, there were a couple of her nephews in the dream.  She believes that was her promise that these two nephews would be saved and serve God.

Caroline I believe you have ran your race and have finished the course. Your dream will be fulfilled.

Until we meet again!    With Love………..

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at The Porum Event Center.
