Burl Dill

Burl Dill was born in McCurtain on March 31, 1932, to Otis and Ethel (Oliver) Dill. He passed away in McCurtain on Nov. 11, 2020, at the age of 88.

He is survived by his daughters, Melba Strain of McCurtain and Trish Shaffer and husband, Jerry, of Kinta; his son, Jerry Dill and wife, Sheila, of McCurtain; one sister, Pam Griffin of McCurtain; his grandchildren, Tina Crase of McCurtain, Tracy Dill of Stigler, Travis Dill of McCurtain, Billy Dill of Stigler, Joshua Cole of Stigler, Jake Cole of Stigler, Kaine Shaffer of Kinta and Jaclyn Shaffer of Kinta; 24 great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Morgan, Adrianna, Adalina, Clay, Joseph, Cody, Cory, Chance, Cheyenne, Caden, Cass, Kinley, Traceton, Trevon, Trenton, Ridgley, Riverli, Hunter, Brayson, Cayden, Jace, Jaxton and Riley; 14 great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Judy Kingsborough and husband, Ronnie, of Bokoshe; one brother-in-law, Omer Holderby and Gary Leuking of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Burl was preceded in death by his wife, Freda (Holderby) Dill; his parents, Otis and Ethel Dill; and his brothers, Billy John Dill and Marvin Dill.

Viewing was from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 12 and 13; with family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at McCurtain Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Palmer and Gary Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Milton Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler.

Pallbearers were Tracy Dill, Travis Dill, Billy Dill, Josh Cole, Jake Cole and Kaine Shaffer.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Stout, Robert Howard and Charlie Stout.
