Bruce Lester

Chief Warrant Officer Bruce W. Lester, USMC Ret. of Stigler was born May 17, 1936, in Hudson, N.Y., to James A. and Marjorie (Proper) Lester and passed away April 8, 2017, in Stigler at the age of 80.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Bishop and husband, Harvey, of Keota, and Karen Lester and companion, Mark Pedrin, of Ft. Smith, Ark.; one son, Bruce Lester II and wife, Tina of Stigler; one sister, Sharon Kavanaugh of California; one brother, Robert Kavanaugh of New York; grandchildren, Bridget Watkins and fiance, Josh Shaffer, Toby Bishop, Izabel Collins, Chloe Collins, Jaysa Lester, Miles Lester and Jagger Lester; great-grandchildren, Haley Watkins, Trace Watkins, and Madelyn Watkins; one great-great-grandchild, due in November.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marjorie Lester; one brother, David Kavanaugh; and one son, Miles Otis Lester.
He served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam.
Services will be held 2 p.m., April 13 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Elbert Owens officiating.
Burial will follow at Tamaha Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers will be Robert Owens, Clifford Owens, Harvey Bishop, David Bratton, David Buckner and Tommy Buckner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Medearis, Dale Lewis, Jr., Dustin Carry, Josh Shaffer, Toby Bishop, Clint Buckner and Mark Pedrin.

Viewing will be Wednesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
