Brandon Douglas Nixon

Brandon Douglas Nixon was born on the first day of spring, March 20, 1976 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Larry & Cheryl (Robertson) Nixon. He passed from this life on August 21, 2021 at the age of 45.

Brandon loved well. He especially loved his wife and best friend, Deborah, whom he met and married 22 years ago in Utah before returning to Oklahoma to raise their family. Their children were the joy of his heart. He loved telling stories, but his kids’ most recent escapades were his favorite.

As the first born of the family, Brandon was always faithful in keeping his siblings connected. He was his brother’s best man and a kindred spirit to his sister. He was active in his church outreach and always enjoyed meeting new people and helping anyone he could. Brandon had a special gift for engaging others with his quick wit and ready humor- a beautiful bright spot he has left on our hearts.

From his youth up, he enjoyed playing video games with friends and family, often quoting characters and movie lines with dramatic flair. The highlight of his week was playing Dungeons and Dragons with his kids, which they nicknamed “DnD” in the night. He also enjoyed being outdoors, with the exception of the “oppressive Oklahoma humidity,” and spent much of his youth “on the hill” at Grandmama & Papa’s house. As an adult he trained under his dad and loved working in the gas fields. Most recently he worked as a forklift operator. His favorite part of any job was the people he met and the friends he made.

Brandon had a dynamic mind-both logical and creative, appreciating both science and science fiction. He was a voracious reader who loved learning, and held a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology. He had an arsenal of humor on standby, especially for serious situations. It was Brandon’s mission and satisfaction to lighten the mood and lift the spirit. Remembering him lifts our spirit even now, and we thank God for him. He brought so much love, humor, and brilliant color into our lives. We miss him every day, but we know this legacy lives on in his children, and remains evident to all who love him
