Bobby Burns

Bobby Gene Burns, 88, of Quinton passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019, at his home. Bobby was born on Sept. 29, 1930, in Crosslane the son of John Gilford and Ida (Williams) Burns. He graduated from Quinton High School. After high school, Bobby enlisted in the Army, serving from March 19, 1952, to Feb. 18, 1954. He came back to Quinton and married Goldie Louise Gordon in 1975. They were happily married for 35 years. Bobby was raised in the Church of God and was a member of the Christian Church. Bobby worked in the oilfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising cattle.
Survivors include his special close friends, Deloris K. Scroggins of Checotah and Wilma Fortner of Muskogee; a little buddy, Lincoln Tucker of Charlotte, N.C. and a sister, Wilma Jo of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a stepson, William Emitt Smart and a brother, Edgar Vernon Burns.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the Palestine Cemetery with the Rev. James Luther Brown officiating. Services were under the direction of Hunn, Black, & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hbmfuneralhome.com.
