Blanche Loretta (Pulse) Howell

Blanche Loretta (Pulse) Howell, of Brooken, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, in Stigler, at the age of 90. Blanche was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Golconda Bottom near Brooken, to Alonzo and Myrtle (Haines) Pulse. She attended school at Golconda, Brooken and Quinton, and graduated from Quinton High School. She taught one year at Brooken School during World War II due to the shortage of teachers during the war.  
Blanche married Earl Howell, also of Brooken, on March 23, 1945. They lived in the Brooken and Henryetta areas until moving to Pueblo, Colo., where they resided until moving back to Brooken.  Earl preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1999. Blanche continued to reside in Brooken until 2010. She then resided with her daughter, Phyllis until her final illness.  
Blanche was always known for her happy nature, great personality and friendliness. She was one of the last of the second generation of Brooken natives and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Cunningham of Chickasaw and Phyllis Howell Helms of Spiro; four grandchildren, Patti Carter, Charles Cunningham, Jimmy Sheives and David Cunningham; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Howell; parents, Alonzo and Myrtle Pulse; two sisters, Lorene Pulse and Wanda Bullard; one brother, Warren Pulse; three infant brothers; and a special friend, Darlene Rouse.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Brooken Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler.
Pallbearers will be James Sheives, Chris Bohn, Jerry Taylor, Bart Howell, Chris Carter and Tony Miller.
Viewing will be Tuesday 1-5 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
