Billy Rendil Weathers, age 88, a Cottonwood resident, was born on June 7, 1932, to Herschel and Lilian (Spears) Weathers, at Stigler, Okla. Billy passed away on March 9, 2021, at Cottonwood, Okla.

Billy retired as an electrician with PSO. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict.

He married Gladys Ruth Wood on May 22, 1964, at the Methodist Church in Porum, Okla. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2017.

Billy devoted his life as pastor of the Cottonwood Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of the Coalgate Masonic Lodge and Coalgate VFW. He enjoyed gardening, flowers and listening to bluegrass music.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Janice Hampton of Cottonwood, Okla.; son, Lee Weathers and wife, Robbie, of Cottonwood, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Debbie Weathers of Cottonwood, Okla.; grandchildren, Dottie Horn and husband, Chris, of Lehigh, Okla., Jim Wright of McAlester, Okla., Tammy Hobgood and husband, Larry, of Coalgate, Okla., Beth Evans and husband, Lloyd, of Wellston, Okla. and Dusty Weathers and wife, Courtney, of Jacksonville, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Michael Juristy, JD Wright, Chaci Bowker, Ray Evans, Braylee Evans, Madeline Cagle and Morgan Feltman; great-great-grandchildren, Tagen Juristy, Noah and Teller Feltman, and Jentry Bowker; and sisters, Helen Bolt of Whitefield, Okla. and Caroline Underwood of Whitefield, Okla.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Lilian (Spears) Weathers; wife, Gladys Ruth (Wood) Weathers; ex-wife, Gloria Jean Fuller and son, Rendil Weathers.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Coalgate, Okla. with Bro. Richard Magby officiating and Bro. Eddie Hogue assisting. Interment was in Coalgate Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Coalgate, Okla.

Casketbearers were Jim Wright, Dusty Weathers, JD Wright, Michael Juristy, Larry Hobgood, Lloyd Evans, Chris Horn, Josh Bowker and Tim Feltman. Honorary casketbarers were Walter Lee Hogue, Bob Trail, Johnny Ward, David Vaughn and Johnny Maggia.
