Billy ‘Bill’ McCoy

Billy “Bill” McCoy of Stigler was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Neal, Kan., to Charles and Sadie Crouch McCoy and passed away Sept. 19, 2016, in Fort Smith, Ark., at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia McCoy of the home; three daughters, Marcia McCoy of Santa Fe, N.M., Janell Elser and husband Mark of Fayetteville, Ark., Valerie Schaeffer and husband Shawn of Eufaula; three sons, Monty McCoy and wife Lori of Wichita, Kan., Jeff McCoy and wife Lori of Cave Creek, Ariz., Brian Spears and wife Sara of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Tiffany Ash and husband Aaron of Wichita, Kan.; Tim McCoy and wife Vay of Wichita, Kan., Nick McCoy and wife Brandi of Wichita, Kan., Jordan McCoy of Wichita, Kan., Ashton McCoy of Cave Creek, Ariz., Jacob Elser of Fayetteville, Ark., Caroline Elser of Fayetteville, Ark., Taylor O’Brien of Norman, Briley Wall and husband B.J., of Broken Arrow, Hunter Schaeffer of Tahlequah, Blake Spears, Mason Spears, Trinity Spears, Zachary Spears, Holly Spears, Mikala Spears and Desiree Spears, all of Wichita, Kan.; 10 great-grandchildren, Brayden Wood, Kylie Wood, Ayden Ash, Matthew McCoy, Alexis McCoy, Miles McCoy, Jackson McCoy, Dylan McCoy, Madison Wall, Chandler Wall; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers; and five sisters.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Cessna Aircraft Company as an engineer with 35 years of service.
He was the owner of McCoy Builders.
After living in Wichita, Kan., and Garfield, Ark., he moved to Stigler and established McCoy Sans Bois Blonde d’Aquitaine Ranch.
For several years he served on the board of directors of the American Blonde d’Aquitaine Association.
Services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Neal Cemetery with the Rev. John Craighead officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Stigler.
