She was the baby and only girl of four children. The family soon moved to Broken Arrow, Okla. When Beverly was one, her mother married O.O. (Bud) Plunk and she and her mother moved to Tulsa. At the young age of seven, in a small Baptist Church, Beverly gave her heart and soul to Jesus Christ and never regretted it.

At the age of eight, during a revival in Broken Arrow at the Assembly of God Church, she was baptized in water by Pastor James C. Dodd.

Beverly attended Sequoyah Grade School and Grover Cleveland Junior High School in Tulsa. At the age of 13, the family moved to Broken Arrow, Okla. By this time, she had two brothers living with her family, Bobby Gene Crocker and Orvan Rickie Plunk. Her older brothers, Lee Roy Crocker and Ancel Kenneth Plunk had enlisted in the Air Force.

Beverly attended junior high and her 10th grade in Broken Arrow. Bobby Gene Crocker enlisted in the Army. The family, plus the new brother, Micky Dave Plunk, were transferred to Pampa, Texas. Beverly started school again and worked at Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association in Tulsa for 17 months. Then they moved back to Pampa, Texas. At the age of 16 she was called to play the piano in church and Sunday school, and that was something she enjoyed until the day of her death. She wrote several songs and many poems.

On Sept. 19, 1959, Paul David Shouse, whom she had met while working for Oral Roberts came to Pampa, Texas and claimed her as his bride. They made their home in Tulsa. This marriage was blessed with three children. She worked for Stewarts Dress Shop in the credit department, Frougs Northland and Zales Northland in Tulsa as credit manager for many years. Then she worked for T.J. Hughes Lumber Company.

Beverly and Foch Royston had 22 years of marriage before his death on May 23, 1994. For a small while they sold the lumber store and bought Stigler Food Market, where Marvin’s IGA was for several years.

In 2002, Beverly told Manuel Ballard she would work for free for him since he had to lay off so many deputies due to lack of funding. She has always said this was her most rewarding job. She prayed hourly for the deputies and sheriff and also for the inmates and judges and for the small children caught in the middle.

On July 4, 2003, she married Lee Roy Swope.
