Betty Underwood

Betty Jo Underwood, 83, of Stigler passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Haskell County Community Hospital. She was born Nov. 17, 1933, at Lequire to John and Delia (Bolen) Ragle.
She grew up at Lequire and graduated at Stigler High School. Betty raised her children on Beaver Mountain and she worked as a school bus driver at Whitefield for 10 years. She worked at a sewing factory in Eufaula for several years. Betty ended her working career with Ki Bois Group Home until retirement. She loved sewing and making quilts, and loved raising a garden and working in it.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Carey and son-in-law, Ramsey of Stigler; her son, Eric Underwood of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Amber Montague and husband, Jimmy, Olivia Underwood, Owen and Dalton Underwood; two great-grandchildren, Mason Montague and Dakota Montague; and a brother, Bill Ragle of Cleveland.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, John and Delia Ragle; a grandson, Kody Montague; a granddaughter, Hope Underwood; and a brother, Arthur Ragle.
A funeral service was held June 16 at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tommie Parker officiating.
Burial followed to Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers were Bryan Underwood, Charles Carey, Allen Johnson, Jimmy Montague, Deannie Crase and Randall McKibben. Honorary pallbearer was Billy Ragle.
