Barbara Eakle

Barbara Jean Eakle, 79, of Stigler, passed away in McAlester, Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021. She was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Stigler, Okla. to Guy & Etta (Terry) Stubblefield.  

Barbara grew up at Stigler and graduated at Kinta High School. She was married to Burl Eakle for 18 years and raised two sons. She moved to Tulsa and began a career with Blue Cross-Blue Shield until retirement in 2006. She moved to Stigler where she had lived since. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed being with them. She loved her dog, Dumbo, who was her long time best friend.

Barbara is survived by her son, Scott Eakle of McAlester; two grandchildren and their spouses, Rusty and Jill Eakle of Quinton and Amanda and Blake Lynch of McAlester; great-grandchildren, Farren, Gifford and Teddie Lynch, Bayleigh Bates, Caitlin and Mason Glynn, Gunner and Savannah Eakle; and a great-great-granddaughter, Gracie Glynn.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Etta Stubblefield; a son, Dennis Eakle; four brothers, Jack, Boyd, Dee, and Ray Stubblefield and three sisters, Polly Sasser, Peggy Brown and Mae Floyd.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at West Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Cate officiating. Pallbearers included Zane Gray, Kirby Banks, Bill Stubblefield, Glen Stubblefield, Sam Stubblefield and Clay Brown.

Burial followed in West Liberty Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
