Artie Weece

Artie L. Weece, 94, of Keota, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at her home. She was born March 8, 1924, in McCurtain to Warren and Fronnie (Nixon) Mayhall and was raised up there.

Artie loved fishing, cooking and enjoyed walking up town spending time with her family.

Artie is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Laymon and husband, Tom, of Bokoshe and Martha Gabbard of Keota; her two sons, Buddy Weece and Barbara Harvey of Oklahoma City and David Weece of Keota; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren;  and a host of other relatives and friends.

Artie was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Fronnie Mayhall; her husband, Grady Weece; a daughter, Betty Jo Green; her two sons, Bobby Dale Weece and Warren (Midget) Weece and her daughter-in-law, Joanne Ilene Weece.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at The Refuge Church in Keota with the Rev. Brandon Mooneyham officiating. Eulogist was Mr. Mike Newberry. Pallbearers included Christopher Stricklin, Dalton Jones, Paul Collins, Michael Stricklin, Charlie Green, Cannon Weece, Donnie Morgan and Chuck Blankenship.

Honorary pallbearers included Austin Chumlie, Phillip Rameriz, Nathan Cox, Paul Hall, Ernie Green Sr., Ernie Green, Johnny Taylor, Ricky Blaylock, Duane Garcia and Henry Ross.

Burial followed in Miners Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
