Andrew Clayton Shook

Andrew Clayton Shook “Butch,” 61, of Atoka, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, April 5, 2018. Clayton passed away at home with his wife by his side after a long battle with cancer. Clayton was born on May 22, 1956, in Ardmore to Robert and Janice (Mattox) Shook.
Clayton was raised in Stilwell, graduating from Cave Springs High School in 1974. By the way, Clayton was voted the best looking guy in high school. He loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. He married Joni Lynn Eckert on Aug. 3, 1983, in Brighton, Colo.
Clayton worked on a barge on the Mississippi River as a teenager, in the oil industry for many years and at Ethan Allen Furniture Factory in Atoka for 25 years. Following the closing of Ethan Allen, Clayton enjoyed the rest of his days working for Steve Cody at Heavy Built MFG in Colgate. He loved to spend time with his family, fish, hunt, read books, listen to music and had a passion for working with wood. Some of his hobbies included playing chess and golfing.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 34 years, the love of his life, Joni Shook of the home; his four children, Joseph Shook of Lebanon, Tenn., Andrew Shook and wife, Erin, of Pueblo, Colo., Amanda Asmus and husband, John, of Owasso and Felisha Lopez of Commerce City, Colo.; five grandchildren, Shelly, Lily, Tommy, Robbie and Logan; his mother, Janice Shook of Kinta; a sister, Patricia Pool and husband, Terry, of Splendor, Texas.
Clayton was preceded in death by his father, Robert Shook; children at home in Atoka with paws, Nikita and Mr. Louie; paternal grandparents, Denver and Dina Mae Shook; maternal grandparents, Kay and Ray Mattox.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Kinta First Baptist Church with Scott Kneiss officiating. Pallbearers included Joseph Shook, Andy Shook, David Muse, Steve Cody, Carl Rutherford and Scott Kneiss.
Burial followed to Bunch Cemetery in Bunch under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
