Rhodie Parker

Rhodie Jane Parker, 89, of Stigler, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at the Haskell County Nursing Center in Stigler. She was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Porum to Charlie and Phoebe (Alexander) Stephens. She grew up in Porum, where she was educated. Rhodie married Eulen Parker on March 3, 1947, in Okmulgee. They lived in several states as he worked for the government. They settled in Muskogee for 30 years. In 1978, they moved to Tamaha and then, in 2000, moved to Stigler. She worked for Woolworth Clothing Store as a sales clerk for 15 years. She loved her garden and loved to can. She was an excellent cook.

Rhodie is survived by her niece and caregiver, Ruby Kindrick of Porum and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Rhodie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Phoebe Stephens; her husband, Eulen Parker; seven sisters, May Stephens, Bessie Stephens, Pearlie Chamberlain, Bertha Hammock, Georgia Peters, Willie Warren and Rachel Macom; two brothers, Jessie Stephens and Robert Stephens.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Tamaha Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Sloan officiating.

Pallbearers included David Stephenson and nephews.

Burial followed immediately under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
