Ethel Smith

Ethel May Smith, 65, of Porum, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at her home. She was born on July 17, 1951, in Hoyt to Charles and Freda (Wren) Morris.
She grew up in the Hoyt and Whitefield area and graduated from Stigler High School.
She married James Lee Smith on Oct. 6, 1972, at Sandridge. She was a registered nurse for 43 years and had just retired Jan. 1, 2017.
Ethel was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, aunt, neighbor and friend. She was a caring, giving person who was always willing to share her time, talents and expertise with others.
Besides loving her family with every fiber of her being, Ethel thoroughly enjoyed gardening, flowers, making and decorating cakes for special occasions, scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Ethel is survived by her husband, James Lee Smith of the home; three sons, Rodney Smith and wife Shawna, Tim Smith and wife Amy, and Jason Smith and wife Mandy; 10 grandchildren, Casey, Mayleigh, Kylie, Jaelyn, Ethan, Jentry and Caiden Smith, Colt, Hunter and Bo Chapman; three sisters, Edna Biggs and husband Elden, Glenda Few and husband Henry, Betty McGuire and husband Larry; two brothers, Charlie Morris and wife Marie, Gerald Morris and wife Jackie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and nursing family; special friends, Terry McNeely and Wanda Smith.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Freda Morris; her in-laws, James A. (Dutch) and Annie Smith; Nancy Ridgeway.
Services will be held  10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 20 at Whitefield Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Denny officiating.
Eulogist, Pastor Daniel Henson. Burial will follow immediately at Hoyt Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Few, Chris Few, Eric Biggs, Randy Smith, Harold Burnett and Trampas Tripp. Honorary pallbearers will be James Morris, Casey Smith and Porum Volunteer Fire Department.
