Carl Prater

Carl Wayne Prater, papa to most, 82, of Quinton passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, in Quinton of natural causes. He was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Quinton to Roy and Sybil Prater. He had six siblings, Kenneth Prater, Robert Prater, Donald Prater, Charles Prater, Ronnie Joe Prater, and June Prater. Carl is survived by two brothers, Charles Prater of Stockton, Calif., Donald Prater of Columbia, Calif.; one son, Sherman Prater of Quinton; two daughters, Carla Crawford of Stockton, Calif., Marla Prater of Stockton, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Gregory Wayne Reeder, Anthony Crawford, Julie Bloxham, Matthew Prater, Natasha Jones, Cecilia Jean Madrigal, Tammara Prater; 22 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Perry Wayne, Hayley Dawn, Anthony, Sabrina, Carley Joy, Lexey, Gabe, Travis, Elizabeth, Ambree, Eva, Bethany, Mallory, Jason, Holley, Makayla, Rachael, Lexi, Sarah, Tobin, and Jordan; two great-great grandchildren, Laney and Amber Leigh. Carl was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Prater; grandson, Chris Crawford; granddaughter, Amber Prater; ex wife, France Jean Prater Elliott; three brothers, Kenneth Prater, Robert Prater and Ronnie Joe Prater; one sister, June Prater; and his parents. Carl worked for the City of Stockton, Calif. before his retirement. He was a wonderful man who lived a joyful life with all of his children and grandchildren. Services were held Aug. 5 at Quinton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Bengs officiating. Burial followed at Quinton City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler.
