Youth invited to participate in Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen contests

Members of VFW Post 4446 are encouraging area youth to participate in the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen contests.
Prizes and scholarships will be awarded at the post, district, state and national levels.
Dedicated to encouraging a better understanding and appreciation of America, the VFW’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen essay competitions help foster patriotism among today’s youth, a media release states.
The Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition is open to all ninth-12th grade students, with this year’s theme asking students “Why is the Veteran Important?”
Open to eligible sixth, seventh and eighth grade students, this year’s Patriot’s Pen theme asks students to reflect and expand on “My Pledge to Our Veterans.”
Student entries, accompanied with a completed entry form, must be submitted to a local participating VFW Post.
Deadline for entry in the two contests is midnight, Oct. 31.
For more local information, contact Ed Tatman, VFW Post 4446 commander, at 918-351-4209.
