UPDATE: Authorities investigating shooting

One man is in custody following a shooting incident earlier today, according to Haskell County Sheriff Terry Garland.

The incident occurred east of Stigler.

The sheriff provided the following details regarding the incident: A deputy responded to a domestic in progress, possibly involving a firearm. When the deputy arrived he was met at the door by a female stating her husband was in the bedroom with a gun, threatening to shoot her. As the deputy was speaking to her at the door the male subject came to the end of the hallway pointing a shotgun at the deputy. The deputy reacted and fired several shots at the subject, hitting him at least twice. He was transported to Baptist hospital in Ft Smith where he was treated, received several staples and released to where he is now, in the Haskell County jail. It is being investigated by Haskell county and OSBI at this time. Due to policy and protocol the deputy has been sent home on paid leave until the investigation is completed. Charges are pending on the subject.

Garland explained that names are not being released at this time.

Update: The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has released the name of the husband - Charlie Brown, age 60.

No other information has been released by authorities.
