Third-graders attend Farm Safety Day

Stigler, Keota, Whitefield and McCurtain third-graders gather at the end of Farm Safety Day, hosted by the Oklahoma State University Haskell County extension office at the Cass Free Will Baptist Church campgrounds on May 4. OSU Haskell County extension office educator Bradley Womack said that approximately 180 students attended the workshop. Children learned about ATV safety from OSU Latimer County educator Tony Johnson, well site safety from McCurtain 4-H member Ethan Satterfield, gun safety and wildlife from the Oklahoma Wildlife Department, fire safety from the Oklahoma Forestry Service, lawn mower safety from Stigler Milling Company, nutrition and how to read labels from Donna Kates of the Community Nutrition Education Program, tobacco education and various exercises from KI BOIS staff members.
