Stigler Public Schools to transition to distance learning

A statement from David Morgan, Superintendent of Schools
We have felt a commitment from the beginning of the current school year to gauge the need to switch to distance learning by what effect the current pandemic was having on our “local school community.” This was the guidance given by our state epidemiologist, Jared Taylor, earlier in the summer. We remained at a consistent manageable level of quarantines/isolations of students and staff to this point; however, a couple of weeks ago we began to see a slow rise in the number of quarantined/isolated students and staff within our district. That trend has only risen over that time period.
We feel that it is in the best interest of our students and staff to transition to distance learning for Stigler Public Schools beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a return date of Monday, Nov. 30. Students will be on distance learning beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11 through Friday, Nov. 20. Students and staff will be on Thanksgiving break Monday through Friday, Nov. 23 to 27, as planned.
We feel that our students need as much normalcy as possible. With this in mind, we will move forward with scheduled extracurricular activities as planned. Coaches of activities may schedule practices to prepare for upcoming events. Each site will also be open with all staff available to assist students with help on assignments, labs etc.
We will be offering curbside pickup for meals beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11 through Friday, Nov. 20.
Parents may pick up meals for the day at their student’s site. Pick up for grade school meals will be at the front door of the grade school from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Middle school/high school parents may pick up meals daily at the middle school cafeteria from 9 a.m. to noon.
