Stigler PTO win Christmas parade with books

Stigler-Haskell County Chamber of Commerce presents a prize each year for the best float in the Christmas parade.

The winning float this year went to Stigler PTO, for their innovative float that gave out 250 books instead of candy.

Kelsey Dickson, chamber president, along with Stigler Elementary School Principal Lana Mayhall and Chamber Executive Director Janice Williams, recently presented PTO President Brandy Johnson with a $100 check for taking first place.

The PTO members were also recognized at a recent Stigler School Board Meeting.

Johnson said at the meeting that she is thankful for all the help that was provided and that she and Mayhall plan to buy even more books to give out during Friday assemblies.

Williams thanked the PTO teachers, parents, and students for participating in this year’s parade.
