Sheriff: One arrested in connection with shooting

A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in rural Haskell County on Saturday, Jan., 21, according to a media release from the Haskell County Sheriff's Office.

James Earl Frames is in custody, the release states.

The Haskell County 911 Center received a call regarding a shooting that occurred in a rural area near Keota about 2:15 p.m.

Law enforcement officers from several departments and agencies conducted an investigation related to the shooting. It was discovered that Frames had shot a male victim, fled on foot and was still believed to be armed in the area, the media release states.

The release also states that after an extended manhunt, Frames was found laying on the ground in a rural wooded area. Frames was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Haskell County Criminal Justice Center. A firearm was located near the area of the shooting.

The victim of the shooting is currently in stable condition, the media release states.
