Sheriff: County taking Keota’s police calls

Keota residents who request law enforcement assistance will be contacted by a representative of the county sheriff’s office, according to Sheriff Tim Turner.

“Haskell County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking calls for the city of Keota because of their current financial status,” Turner explained. “They still have a police department, just no money to pay the police officers.”

“The city is currently in financial troubles and are assessing all avenues to resolve the problem,” Turner added.

Individuals in Keota who need law enforcement assistance may call the police department at 918-966-2129 and leave a message, or call the Sheriff’s Department directly at 918-967-2400, or 911 in the case of an emergency.
