Rodeo contestants ride into town

The Stigler Round-Up Club hosted an open rodeo on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3.

The event drew large crowds as they gathered to watch cowgirls and cowboys compete for glory and cash prizes in various events.

The Ward Rodeo Company put on a show for viewers as Wes Ward warmed up the crowd with tales of rodeo past.

The Stigler rodeo featured events such as bull riding, calf roping, team roping and barrel racing.

The bulls of the night were introduced with smoke as they emerged through the fence.

There was also a calf scramble both nights for younger participants. The calf scramble event offered a chance for youth to win some money as they scrambled to grab the tail of a calf that held a ribbon. Those who got a ribbon won cash prizes for their capture. Crowds were entertained with music and commentary as the events proceeded.
