One injured in weekend collision

A Lequire man was hospitalized following a one-vehicle collision this past weekend, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

George Luna, 21, was taken by Pafford EMS to Mercy Life Line and then flown  to a Tulsa hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal, trunk external, head and leg injuries, the OHP report states.

The collision occurred about 4 a.m. on Saturday, on state Highway 31, two and two-tenths miles west of McCurtain.

Luna was driving a Dodge pickup and traveling west. The vehicle left the roadway on the right side. It overturned one and three-quarters times and came to rest on the driver’s side door. The driver was ejected from the vehicle an unknown distance, the OHP report also states.

Seat belts were not in use and cause of the collision is under investigation, according to OHP.

Trooper Sean Haney of the Haskell County Detachment of OHP Troop C investigated the collision. He was assisted by Haskell County Sheriff’s Department, Pafford EMS, Lequire Fire Department and Mercy Life Line.
