One dies following collision on state Highway 9 (UPDATED)

A Stigler man died Wednesday, Sept. 6, following a two-vehicle collision on state Highway 9, two miles east of Enterprise in Haskell County, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

At 6:43 a.m., Jonathan Bash, 32, of Stigler, was driving a Ford F550, and traveling west.

Timothy Kirkland, 57, of Quinton, was driving a 1998 Peterbilt. He pulled out of a drive, onto state Highway 9. He was traveling west and was still gaining speed when his vehicle was struck from behind by the Ford F550, which was driven by Bash, the OHP report states.

Bash was transported to Haskell County Community Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained from the accident, the report states.

Kirkland was not injured in the collision.

The collision was investigated by trooper Trey Downum, of the Haskell/McIntosh County Detachment of Troop C. He was assisted by trooper Robert Francis, also of Troop C.
