October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

It is estimated that one in every four women and one in seven men will experience some form of domestic violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. Even though an estimated 12 million people are victims of domestic violence each year, most cases go unreported to law enforcement. While 85 percent of domestic violence victims are women, it is important for all people to know how to help someone in an abusive relationship or situation find help.
