Municipal candidates file in Keota, McCurtain, Kinta

Election set for April 2 in Keota

 

Voters in Keota will cast their ballots for town trustees and town clerk-treasurer on April 2, according to Haskell County Election Board officials.

Three candidates filed to serve four-year terms on the Keota board of trustees – Tammy Goff Startzman, Don Burton and Velma Huckaby. Voters will select two.

Three candidates filed to serve as town clerk-treasurer - Lisa Kemp Hazlewood, Heather Sloan and Sharon Burt. Voters will select one.

Calvin McCormick is unopposed in his bid to serve a two-year unexpired term on the board of trustees.

The municipal candidate filing period for Keota, Kinta and McCurtain was Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 4-6.

Candidates in Kinta and McCurtain are unopposed.

In McCurtain, incumbents Dave Self and Billy Myers each filed unopposed to continue serving on the board of trustees. They will each serve four-year terms. Derek Lane filed unopposed to complete a two-year unexpired term on the board.

In Kinta, incumbents Jean Daniels and Brett King filed unopposed to continue serving on the board of trustees. They will each serve four-year terms.

Town Clerk Scott Kniess and Town Treasurer Leigh Anne Kniess, both incumbents, were also unopposed.

The municipalities of Stigler and Whitefield will conduct their individual elections, and filing periods have not been announced.
