“We have lost two of our town’s friends recently,” McCurtain Mayor Patrik Lovell stated in a Facebook post. “Rub Oliver who was involved in our town for many years, both as Police Chief and Volunteering. Coot McCullar who was a sitting member of the board of trustees and also was involved with volunteering in the town for many years. Both of our friends took great pride in the McCurtain 4th of July Celebration, and were willing to volunteer in any aspect. The town will be dedicating this year’s parade to Rub and the fireworks show to Coot. They would both want us to continue our tradition and bring people together, and that is exactly what we are going to do. I believe love makes people a permanent part of you. If this is true, you’ll never lose your friends.”
There will be several food and drink vendors on site, and fireworks will begin at dark.
