Hospital employees still waiting for payroll funds

Haskell County Community Hospital is open, and many of the employees are working even though they have not been paid in almost a month, CEO Don Buchanan said Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Emergency room, lab services and X-ray services are available, Buchanan said Wednesday.

Hospital employees are scheduled to be paid every other Friday, and they were to be paid on Friday, Feb. 15. They have not received those funds. The hospital’s next pay day is Friday, March 1.

This is the third time in recent weeks that HCCH employees have not been paid on time.

Buchanan said on Wednesday that legal counsel with iHealthcare, Inc., the hospital’s management company, is working to get payroll funds released from a bank account. A judge has frozen the bank account which has funds for payroll, in connection with an unrelated lawsuit, Buchanan said.
