Extreme weather forces county to deal with water issues

Many area residents and businesses have been without water for several days as water companies have been dealing with the effects of last week’s historic cold temperatures and heavy snowfall. Sheriff Tim Turner said Wednesday morning that the majority of customers in Haskell County now have water service. Haskell County’s temperatures remained below freezing five days in a row last week.

On Feb. 16, the low was 11 degrees below zero, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet. The low temperatures on Feb. 15 and 19 were one degree below zero. The high temperature on Feb. 15 was only six degrees.
