Community's newspaper receives awards

The Stigler News-Sentinel received recognition for news content, advertising, digital media, sales promotion and community leadership in the Oklahoma Press Association’s 2019 Better Newspaper Contest.
LaGayla Eakle, graphic manager, was recognized for her advertising design skills and received a second place award in the Small Space Ad category.
The staff received a second place award in the News Content category.
In the Digital Media category, the staff received a third place award for the newspaper’s website, www.stiglernews.com.
The staff received a third place award in the Sales Promotion category for the 2019 edition of “Advantage, Your Go-To-Guide to Haskell County” magazine.
The News-Sentinel also received a third place award in the Community Leadership category for organizing the 2019 Haskell County Angel Tree program.
The Oklahoma Press Association announced the winners of the 2019 Better Newspaper Contest Awards in a video released on June 15.
“Although the 2020 OPA Convention was postponed this year, we knew it was vitally important to announce the winners of the newspaper contest,” said Lisa Sutliff, OPA member services director. “We discussed several options and decided to create a video showcasing all the award winners.”
